Botley Solar Farm – Report from Group

The Parish Council commissioned a hydrologist Clive Carpenter who provided a flood report for Cassington.  PVDP advised during the 3-day hearing that solar panels do not affect the flow of water off of the land.  Later on, they then contradicted this.  They also did not model the effects of the proposed measures.  It was also noted that ditch widening may increase flooding.

Cllr Thompson attended the 3-day hearing.  Examination has indicated that the Principal Examiner has taken this very seriously.  PVDP has received a long list of questions.  These will be published on 10th June 2025.  WODC has recommended that 70% of the proposed area of the Solar Panel not be used.

  1. Questions from the Public

A resident has asked the question about Traffic Calming in the village.  Cllr Metcalf advised that the Parish Council met with James Wight (Highways at OCC).  The next step is to put together a plan to bring to the village.  It’s not just speed but also the volume of traffic that will happen with all the building in the area within the next few years.  It was also mentioned that there had been large trucks coming through the village.  Well over the 7.5 tonne limit.  Cllr Rogers advised that he had seen them but they didn’t have any company name or logo on them.
